What can I expect during my first therapy session?

The first few sessions are truly about developing a connection with one another.  We will discuss your reason for seeking therapy, what helps you feel safe and comfortable, a brief history of your symptoms and origins, and what you hope to gain from therapy.  I enjoy taking time to get to know you as a person and your unique needs prior to talking about really difficult topics; trust takes time to build. Together, we will identify treatment goals and a direction towards the healing path that works for you.

What is reiki/Integrated Energy Therapy?

Reiki is a traditional Japanese healing technique that utilizes knowledge of the body's energy centers and magnetic field to move and balance energy in a way that releases physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual blocks so the body can heal itself naturally.  Integrated Energy Therapy operates similarly but utilizes higher vibrational energy and guidance from the angels to treat blockages at a deeper, cellular level in the body and human energy field using gentle touch with trigger points.  Since both are forms of energy healing and energy has no time/space boundaries, sessions are just as effective in person or distant and can be performed hands on or hands off; energy follows intention.  Energy â€‹healing modalities have been used for many years in hospitals around the world to support healing, relaxation, and restoration for patients recovering from surgeries, cancer, etc.

 

How can I prepare for my reiki/Integrated Energy Therapy session?

There is no wrong or right way to receive energy healing.  Each person has their own preferences for how they choose to enjoy their experience.  You may wish to sit or lie down in a comfortable position with your eyes closed for added relaxation and to minimize distractions.  Some people also choose to play soft music.  You can also receive healing benefits just as easily while you are going about your day with the exception of driving or operating heavy machinery, as it often has a relaxing effect that causes some to fall asleep.  If you have any specific areas of need/intentions for your session, let me know prior.  Feel free to discuss with me how you would like to tailor your individual experience.

What is shamanism?

Shamanism is an ancient perspective of the universe that has been found to thrive across time, cultures, and religions across the world.  Shamanism is therefore not a religion, but a way of life that various indigenous groups have expressed in their own unique ways for thousands of years.  Shamanic beliefs encourage balance and healing through self reflection, learning, as well as gentle interactions and gratitude for all forms of life.  Traditionally, all of nature is believed to be made up of energy and is considered divine and beautiful.  Through reconnecting with Mother Earth and our own divinity, we are able to embrace our true selves, follow our life purpose, and show kindness and love to all.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?

While healing and growth can be obtained through both therapy and life coaching, each utilizes different techniques and approaches.  Therapy services are most beneficial to those struggling with mental health symptoms which require professional intervention.  In therapy, the practitioner and the client will delve deep into the origins and impacts of symptoms experienced through processing and reframing the past.  This typically takes a good deal of time and follows through the stages of stabilization, reframing, and reintegration.  Life coaching is typically most suitable for those who have graduated from therapy or who are able to function without the experience of major mental health symptoms.  Coaching supports those who are wishing to explore themselves in the present and future or to gain specific skills to work towards personal goals and development in a much shorter amount of time and outside of sessions.  With life coaching, specific goals are crafted by the client with the guidance of the coach.  Each session thereafter focuses on specific skills and steps towards achieving these goals to facilitate peace and harmony and achieve deeper personal fulfillment.

What are the benefits of sound healing and crystal healing?  

Research has shown that sound has the ability to induce deep relaxation leading to the following benefits: reduced stress, improved sleep, reduced pain and tension in the body, as well as improved mood and focus.  Sound healing works by utilizing different vibrations that result in frequencies that stimulate electrical activity in the body and brain to turn on the parasympathetic nervous system that allows us to repair, rest, and heal ourselves.  Crystals have also been used for centuries in healing practices around the world.  Crystals each have their own unique vibration and composition that, when held close to or on the body, influence our own magnetic field to help balance and restore the body's energy.  Crystals can be used for various intentions including: physical healing, relaxation, improved mental focus and clarity, spiritual connection, releasing emotional blockages, protection, cleansing or manifesting.
